This was a morning of community and fun, learning about how we could integrate ESSENTIAL OILS into our everyday life and the many benefits of doing so, including better sleep, decreased anxiety, less cold & flu!
The morning will began with a COMPLIMENTARY YOGA FLOW class suitable for ALL LEVELS from 9:30AM-10.30AM taught by Jay, followed by MORNING TEA including some delicious edible oil recipes to go with our tea/coffee.
The PRESENTATION by the incredibly knowledgable and inspiring Toni Gavel went from 10.45AM-12PM was a perfect opportunity to taste, test and sample some of the oils and oils-based products. We also had some gift bags to give away as a thank you for attending.
Each week in our Relax & Restore class, a new doTERRA essential oil is introduced, as it is applied on our wrists and diffused in the air. We look at the emotional and practical uses of each oil and for the rest of the week this “oil of the week” is diffused and featured in our studio.
WINTER SOLSTICE YOGA

To tie in with a number of significant events in June, including the Winter Solstice and International Day of Yoga on Wednesday 21st June (and Midsummer Day in the northern hemisphere on Saturday 24th June) Tidy Temple Yoga held this special yoga event on our last day of Term 2 to celebrate!
To kickstart our first session (Playful Group Yoga Flow) we explored Kapalabhati pranayama (skull shining breath) to warm our bodies and energize/clear our minds, followed by an invigorating Yoga flow sequence connecting in a “human mandala” followed by a Mexican wave flow. Morning tea consisted of a selection teas, coffee, high protein yoga cookies, almond cake, good conversation & more. The second half of our event was a Restorative Yoga session using a variety of blankets & props, followed by 25 minutes meditation.

MINDFULNESS/YOGA DAY RETREAT

On this day a group of yoga students joined Rob Ginnivan (TTY co-founder and Mindfulness/Meditation revolutionary) and Kay Ginnivan (TTY Founder/Director and senior teacher) for an insightful retreat. Participants were invited to find out what Mindfulness is/isn’t and how to practice it in their everyday lives by exploring Mindfulness in Body Movement, Guided Meditation and Walking/Observation Sessions.
Set in our cozy, boutique studio in Nicholls, Tidy Temple Yoga participants spent the day in Peace and Tranquility to experience “Mindful Life Transformation” under Rob’s guidance, mindfulness movement with Kay and enjoyed a beautiful Ayurvedic lunch, morning and afternoon teas prepared by Kay.

Tantra Yoga Flow: The Web of Our Reality

At Tidy Temple Yoga, we are privileged to host guest teachers each year! This month we were privileged to welcome guest teacher Caridad (Cari) Guerrero who will who lead a Tantric Yoga Flow class at our studio.
With a flamboyant South American flavor, in this class, guest teacher Cari, visiting from Ecuador, will introduce modern and classical postures in a dance type yoga flow.
Tantra is an ancient form of yoga originating from a different tradition than most modern day styles of yoga. The main elements of Tantra are rooted in the religions of the Indian territories of about 5000 years ago.
Tantra Yoga is a powerful practice that includes asana (postures), mantra (ancient language), chakra (energy center), and pranayama (breathing practices) in a system to build strength, clarity, and balance in daily life.
The aim of Tantra is to expand awareness in all states of consciousness, whether waking state, dream state or sleeping state. Through this practice we can experience the expansion of consciousness, integrating a constant flow into life, dancing in harmony with our body, mind and soul, being present and relaxed at the same time.
BALANCE, STRENGTH, TRANSFORMATION WEEKEND WORKSHOP
This was an insightful, powerful and fun two-day weekend where we explored the three main practices of Yoga – Asana (Physical), Dhyana (Meditation), Svadhyaya (Self-Inquiry).
SATURDAY 5th November & SUNDAY 6th November 2016
The Balance Strength Transformation weekend workshop was full of new insights, foundation building for yoga practice and both mental and physical breakthroughs in participants.
Together, we learned life tools that will help us be our healthiest, most vital self that can be used in everyday life. Upon completion of this workshop, participants had built a solid understanding of safe physical alignment in yoga practice and the foundational skills for building a meditation and self-inquiry practice. Lead in an accessible and malleable way, the workshop helped ‘demystify’ yoga practice for participants and was delivered in a way that is easily understood and empowering for ANYONE via the Baptiste methodology.

This was a FREE event held as part of the Canberra Writers Festival 2016. An insightful opportunity to understand the true meaning of ‘present moment living’ in a mindful way. To the soothing sound of the author’s voice, accompanied by live classical guitar and cello instruments, attendees listened to passages being read from “Now & Now: Transformational Diaries of Present Moment Living” as well as a deep relaxing guided mindfulness meditation narrative. The world’s first published collection of everyday present moment experiences/mindfulness suggestions was available for purchase along with a complimentary copy of the author’s guided meditation CD – Renew U.
YOGA & MEDITATION MARATHON
Charity Yoga & Meditation Marathon, 25th June 2016

A YOGA & MEDITATION MARATHON was held at Tidy Temple Yoga Nicholls where participants were able to strengthen, rejuvenate and ease their bodies for a good cause with all proceedings going towards charity. Our chosen charities for this event were:
Barnardos – Helping children that are suffering or have suffered abuse
Soldier On – Supporting our wounded warriors that have returned from war and their families and others who suffer from trauma/PTSD
The event was a perfect opportunity to learn more about the practice of Yoga and Meditation and how to implement it into your own life. It also gave participants a great chance to connect and share with others (including mingling, light snacks & tea).
